Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE: Administers the University's Compensation Program by applying Program philosophy and evaluation techniques to meet institutional needs, including analyzing jobs, editing s, conducting grade evaluations, compiling data on wages and salaries and recommending wage and salary levels and standards. Administers, oversees, counsels and advises on complex University compliance programs and initiatives and federal and state labor laws. Provides expertise to the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) model regarding compensation administration. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers complex job studies, including assessment of organizational structure, classifications and salaries. Analyzes proposed actions for compliance with guidelines, standards and equity. Reconciles irregular or problematic personnel actions. Edits descriptions for new and revised positions, consulting with applicable parties to ensure adequacy and needed corrections.
- Collects and analyzes annual and other salary and wage rate surveys, comparing the University's rates and relevant data with comparable employers. Makes recommendations to address identified discrepancies. Prepares reports, charts and graphs summarizing data. Creates wage and salary schedules that align appropriately to market data.
- Recommends and participates in determining changes to compensation policies, practices and structures.
- Administers complex University compliance programs and initiatives for compensation-related federal and state labor laws. Conducts audits to ascertain the extent of compliance within applicable established University policies and practices and federal and state labor laws. Represents the department when working with internal and external auditors or other interested parties.
- Administers and conducts instructional and informational sessions with all levels of staff on compensation issues, policies and practices and application and interpretation of various federal and state labor laws
- Administers the implementation and application of approved general wage and salary structures. Reviews proposed adjustments and cost proposals. Reconciles errors and irregularities. Distributes and presents wage proposals and reports to division administration for review and approval.
- Provides training, guidance and feedback to Compensation Analysts.
Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. 3 years of experience human resources compensation program administration required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of HR laws, principles, practices, and trends; Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of compensation program administration; Knowledge of laws, issues, trends and best practices impacting the development, modification, and administration of compensation programs and policies; Knowledge of research methods and data analysis techniques; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to use a personal computer and related hardware and software for communication; information, data and record management; and reporting; Ability to analyze, interpret and apply HR laws, policies and standards; Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data; Ability to conduct research, analyze information & data and present findings and recommendations in a concise format; Ability to effectively communicate and interact with people across diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $75,655 - $113,470 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined byconsidering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
