Data Scientist - Growth

We’re hiring a data scientist to help accelerate Cursor’s growth. This is a hands-on role: you’ll write pipelines, run models, and design experiments that help our users get more value and move up through our subscription tiers.

Example projects

• Designing and analyzing experiments for new user onboarding flows that teach people how to use AI effectively.

• Evaluating and expanding subscription tiers and pricing.

• Building lifetime value and churn models to guide revenue strategy.

• Exploring AI product analytics: understanding developer–AI interactions in Cursor and how they drive retention, engagement, and revenue.
  

What we’re looking for

You have at least 3-4+ years of full-time experience as a data scientist, ideally in a hyper-growth company or research org. You’re scrappy, pragmatic, and thrive in environments where you can work across multiple product areas at once. You’ve worked directly on Growth, especially product-led or pricing initiatives, and you know how to turn data into decisions that move metrics.

What you’ll do

• Partner with Growth, Product, Marketing, Enterprise, and Finance to shape data-informed decisions across the business.

• Run experiments end-to-end: propose, design, analyze, and translate into clear product recommendations.

• Build and own revenue, pricing, and usage models that leadership depends on.

• Write pipelines, dashboards, and reports that make data self-serve and trustworthy.

• Define, track, and operationalize metrics that become part of how the company runs.

• Dig deep into our data systems, self-serve insights, and synthesize learnings across teams.
  

You should apply if…

• You have at least 3-4+ years of full-time data science experience.

• You’ve been an early data scientist at a hyper-growth startup or research org—you know how to be scrappy and ship insights across multiple product areas.

• You’ve worked on Growth —especially product-led or pricing-related growth.

• You’ve worked with subscription businesses , moving customers up tiers or optimizing revenue.

• You’re fluent in SQL and Python , and can write pipelines to unblock yourself.

• You’ve built LTV models and have strong opinions about AB testing, conversion funnels, and growth accounting.

• You can turn complex data into clear insights and stories for engineers, PMs, and execs.

• You care deeply about accuracy and detail.
  

Bonus points

• Hands-on experience with dbt and analytics engineering.

• Machine learning applied to growth problems: LTV prediction, churn modeling, attribution, recommendation systems.

• Experience with marketing attribution, cohort analysis, and funnel optimization frameworks.
