UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a System Integration Tester with strong Mainframe testing expertise for a hybrid position in New York, NY for an enterprise-level engagement. Active LinkedIn profile preferred. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing business and technical requirements, developing comprehensive test cases, executing integration and functional testing cycles, documenting results, and ensuring system quality across multiple environments. This role requires hands-on experience testing mainframe applications and system integrations, with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to support mission-critical initiatives.

• Contract is approximately 13 months long.

Mandatory Skills/Experience

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience testing Mainframe applications.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with COBOL, IMS, DB2, JCL, PROCS, and CTLCARDS.
• Experience with RMDS, XPEDITER, and File-Aid for IMS/DB2.
• Extensive experience working with Oracle and DB2 databases.
• Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) methodologies.
• Proven ability to analyze business requirements and technical design documents and translate them into comprehensive test cases.
• Extensive experience in Manual Functional Testing, including test plan development and execution of manual test scripts.
• Experience using ALM / Quality Center (QC) for creating, executing test cases, and tracking defects.
• Experience using IBM Rational Suite (ClearCase, ClearQuest, etc.).
• Experience performing functional, regression, and performance testing using both manual and automated tools.
• Proficiency running backend/database queries for data setup and verification (DB2 and Oracle).
• Experience developing and maintaining automated HP Quick Test Pro (QTP) scripts using Keyword-Driven Framework and Descriptive Programming.
• Experience working on enterprise-wide, large-scale implementations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related Technical/Business discipline.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Develop and maintain formal test cases for specific releases based on business requirements and technical specifications.
• Execute test scripts and test cases for releases and ongoing maintenance efforts; record results in ALM / Quality Center.
• Report defects in ALM / QC, provide detailed documentation to development teams, re-test fixes, and document outcomes.
• Perform data mining to ensure proper test population coverage.
• Ensure timely completion of test cases to meet targeted system cycle dates.
• Report critical milestones and potential deadline risks to the Testing Lead.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously and shift priorities based on established timelines.
• Conduct peer reviews prior to test execution to ensure proper coverage and documentation.
• Collaborate with developers and system analysts to resolve questions during test case preparation.
• Work with automation teams to debug automation scripts.
• Support testing of mainframe integrations, system customizations, upgrades, and patches across multiple environments.
