Professional engineer civil / construction
Description
Duties Description The Professional Engineer 1 Civil/Construction duties in Building Standards and Codes will include but are not limited to the following:- To review plans and applications from modular buildings in accordance with the Uniform Code and applicable regulations.
- Reviewing and analyzing annual reports received from local governments.
- Determining if local governments are properly enforcing the code and if not, determine the best course of action to assist. them in doing so.
- Reviewing and evaluating building permit applications and building construction plan reviews.
- Inspection and evaluation of construction work and code compliance being completed by others.
- Answering highly technical questions and provide technical assistance to local code officials, regulated parties, and design professionals.
- Advising local governments on how to incorporate best practice into their code enforcement program.
- Performing Inspections associated with the Division's regulatory responsibility to perform oversight and ensuring that the local governments who are administering and enforcing the Uniform Code are fulfilling their obligation in accordance with the regulations.
- Supervising subordinate staff within the Unit. .
- Performing Inspections associated with the Division's responsibility to manage the Disaster and Emergency Response support statewide.
- Assist in providing regional support across the state as assigned. Regional support in the form of training, technical assistance, and potentially direct enforcement as assigned. Provide support and direct staff in the form of training, plan reviews, inspections, and responses to questions concerning the proper application of the codes\Ensure the support provided is technically accurate and provided in an effective manner.
- Review, analyze, prepare written reports, and work with counsel to recommend new or revised provisions of law, regulation, or code, for local government programs in the administration and enforcement of The Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code (the "Uniform Code") as well.as the State Energy Code.
- Review local laws and ordinances governing building construction.
