Substitute teacher - middle school social studies

St. Gregory the Great School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our middle school team. This position will primarily teach Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) as well as Grade 5 Social Studies. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strong classroom management, and a love for working with middle school students.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in alignment with curriculum standards for Middle School ELA and Grade 5 Social Studies.
- Create a supportive, faith-filled, and structured classroom environment.
- Assess student progress through classwork, projects, and formal assessments.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure student success.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations.

Employment Status:

This role is a long-term role and does not include any medical, dental, vision or retirement benefits. Lesson plans and curriculum already planned but may need to adjust based on pacing of class. Will need to plan for schedule changes accordingly.

- Duration: Until the end of the school year (June 2026)
- Grade Levels: Middle School ELA (Grade 8) & Social Studies (Grade 5)

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required).
- Teaching certification preferred.
- Experience teaching Middle School ELA and/or Social Studies a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to fostering both academic excellence and character development in line with St. Greg’s mission.

Start Date - 10/06/2025

Salary - Sub Rate $150 or more based on experience
