LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (OPEN RANK)

DIVISION OF NUTIRITIONAL SCIENCES

The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer or Teaching Professor (non-tenure track faculty) position in Epidemiology. This teaching position is a 12-month position, appointed for three or five years (beginning as soon as possible), and is renewable. Full time lecturers are expected to teach 5-6 courses per year.

The successful candidate will have primary teaching responsibilities in epidemiology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This position also includes opportunities to develop or co-teach advanced courses in epidemiology and public health.

This position is ideally suited for an individual with a strong background in higher education, who is committed to excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Required Qualifications :
  • Doctoral degree in Epidemiology or related field.
  • Demonstrated track record in teaching epidemiology at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Commitment to inclusive learning environments and excellence in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Additional training in biostatistics, public health, nutrition, or related fields.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teaching teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with biological, medical, nutrition, and/or public health research.
About the Division of Nutritional Sciences

The Division of Nutritional Sciences is one of the largest academic units in the United States devoted to and the home of . Our work spans from fundamental discovery to community engagement, all aimed at promoting human health through evidence-based nutrition, DNS studies human nutrition at levels ranging from molecules to populations, drawing on the chemical, biological and social sciences to understanding the complex relationship among human health, nutritional status, food and lifestyle patterns, and social and institutional environments. Research in DNS focuses on the following four areas: Nutrition for Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition for Metabolic Health, Nutrition for Public Health and Health Equity, Nutrition for Precision Health.

Our mission is to discover new scientific knowledge, translate knowledge into evidence-based actions that promote human health and well-being, disseminate and evaluate interventions in populations, and train the next generation of leaders and professionals in our field. As part of our teaching effort, we offer:
  • Three undergraduate majors and two minors
  • A nutrition concentration for biological sciences majors
  • MS and PhD programs in nutrition
  • Programs rooted in the life sciences with a focus on experiential learning and translation
  • A commitment to innovation, excellence and continual improvement in teaching and learning
