Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position seeks an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students for grades 6 through 12. The role involves working with a diverse student population, including students with autism who are emergent municators. This contract-based position offers an opportunity to impact the lives of up to 20 students, providing specialized instruction and support tailored to their unique learning needs.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
• Experience working with middle and high school age groups (grades 6-12)
• Familiarity with supporting students with autism and emergent munication skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams

Location:

• Syracuse, NY area

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver effective instruction and acmodations for DHH students in grades 612
• Manage a caseload capped at 20 students, ensuring individualized attention
• Employ munication strategies suited for emergent municators on the autism spectrum
• Collaborate with families, therapists, and other educators to support student progress
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in pliance with educational standards
