We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychotherapist to join our team, focusing on providing specialized mental health care to individuals with unique needs.

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychotherapist with experience supporting individuals with special needs and co-occurring mental health concerns. In this role, you will provide comprehensive clinical services, including assessment and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. You will work with individuals across a range of developmental and intellectual differences — including autism spectrum disorders and other cognitive challenges — who are navigating emotional and mental health difficulties. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering thoughtful, individualized care in a supportive clinical environment.

This is an independent contractor position located in: Queens, New York.

This position will provide “IN PERSON” services in Queens. “TRAVEL IS REQUIRED”

Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of clients with special needs to identify underlying mental health concerns and create personalized treatment plans.

Specialized Therapy: Provide individual, couple, and family therapy sessions using specialized techniques tailored to the unique needs and communication styles of individuals with special needs.

Collaborative Approach: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to develop integrated treatment plans addressing both mental health and developmental needs.

Family Involvement: Involve families and caregivers in the therapy process, providing support, education, and resources to enhance the overall well-being of the client.

Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and evaluate clients' progress, adjusting therapeutic interventions as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards and confidentiality protocols; Complete progress notes recording clinical activity in electronic health record within 24 hours of the date of the session in time frame set forth by Medicaid, Medicare and all health insurances; Prepare treatment related letters or written reports as occasionally needed.

Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs within the community, promoting understanding and acceptance of individuals with special needs and mental health challenges.

Continued Education: Stay informed about the latest research, therapies, and interventions related to individuals with special needs and mental health issues, integrating this knowledge into your practice.

Qualifications:

• LMFT, LMHC; active NYSOP licensure and registration must be maintained at all times.
• Experience and or willingness with working with individuals with special needs and mental health conditions.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing psychotherapy practices in the state of New York.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• An adaptable, creative, empathic, and receptive approach to psychotherapy; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and their supports.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt therapeutic approaches based on individual needs.
